发布日期:2025-09-16

Recently, Emilie Barriau, Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer of Hempel Group, visited Yantai Wanshun New Material Co., Ltd. The two parties engaged in in-depth discussions on further deepening their cooperation. This visit marks the beginning of a new chapter in closer collaboration between the two companies, each of which holds distinct advantages in the coatings and chemical materials sectors.

I. Synergistic Collaboration and Complementary Strengths

Yantai Wanshun New Material Co., Ltd. was established on October 20, 2020, and is located in the Yantai Chemical Industrial Park. With a registered capital of 375 million yuan, the company invested approximately 1 billion yuan in its first-phase project, achieving an annual production capacity of 180,000 tons. The company specializes in the research, development, production, and sales of green, high-performance chemical new materials, including polyaspartic ester resins, polyester resins, modified isocyanates, and UV-curable coatings. It is recognized as a highly innovative enterprise in the industry. Among its products, polyaspartic ester resin stands out as a flagship offering, characterized by high reactivity, rapid curing, and a wide range of applications. This product has obtained EU REACH certification and is suitable for various fields, such as anti-corrosion protection for outdoor steel structures and the protection of wind turbine towers.

Hempel Group (Hempel A/S) was founded in 1915 in Copenhagen, Denmark, with its North Asia regional headquarters located in Shanghai. The group operates 25 modern production facilities worldwide, including three major production centers in China—Guangzhou, Yantai, and Zhangjiagang—along with two research and development bases. Supported by over 7,200 employees globally and a business network spanning more than 100 countries and regions, Hempel has established a comprehensive presence in China, with multiple branches and warehousing centers covering major cities. As a renowned enterprise in the coatings industry, Hempel specializes in providing professional coating solutions for the marine, infrastructure, and energy sectors in China.

II. On-site Visits and Mutual Technical Recognition

Following the meeting, the Hempel team visited the laboratory of Wanshun New Materials. The laboratory covers an area of 8,000 square meters and is equipped with over 80 advanced international research and development instruments, as well as testing and analysis equipment, with a total investment exceeding 40 million yuan. The company has established an integrated technological innovation system spanning synthesis research, process development, and application development. It has also formed a technical team at its research institute, led by more than 60 doctoral and master's degree holders, and maintains long-term cooperative relationships with multiple domestic research institutions and universities. The Hempel team expressed high recognition of Wanshun New Materials' robust R&D capabilities, believing that this will provide solid technical support for future collaboration between the two parties.

III. Elevating Collaboration to Build a Green Future Together

As early as the construction phase of Wanshun New Materials' plant, the two parties had already initiated collaboration—the plant's steel structures and the exterior walls of storage tanks were coated with Hempel's high-performance anti-corrosion system, achieving a "zero-maintenance" protective effect within the designed lifespan. Building on this existing foundation of cooperation, this meeting identified three key areas for upgrading:

1、Focus on R&D: Concentrate on cutting-edge technologies such as ultra-high solids, solvent-free, and bio-based coatings, jointly developing long-lasting heavy-duty anti-corrosion solutions.
2、Market Expansion: Target the growing market for green and environmentally friendly coatings, collaboratively promoting the application of green coatings in the energy and infrastructure sectors.
3、Mechanism Alignment: Establish mechanisms for high-level mutual visits, technical exchanges, and regular data sharing to achieve real-time connectivity in technology, market, and supply chain information.

This visit by Hempel Group marks a significant milestone in the collaboration between the two parties. Looking ahead, Yantai Wanshun New Materials and Hempel Group are poised to leverage their respective technological and resource advantages to inject new vitality into the development of the coatings and chemical materials industry through diversified cooperation models. Together, they will strive to achieve even more remarkable accomplishments and contribute greater strength to the advancement of related industries.
